Such a great lady! It was my pleasure to chat with Mariam Chamberlain at the Making A Difference for Women Awards Dinner last evening. I thanked her for her tireless work supporting research on women, principally at the Ford Foundation, and then in 1982 was elected President of the National Council for Research on Women (NCRW)–which originated as a coalition of 28 university-based research centers, educational coalitions and policy organizations. The NCRW has flourished into THE premier network of thought leaders working to ensure a more equitable society for girls, women and their families. My thanks goes out to the dedication of Mariam Chamberlain and women like her over these past decades, who continue to espouse We Can Do It Women, empowering women and girls to achieve their highest dreams, all the while creating and maintaining social structures to foster that growth.
